It’s Equal Pay Day – a day that shows how far into 2013 women must work to earn what men earned in 2012. After all, women still make just 77 cents to a man’s dollar. This gender gap affects women (and their families) from all backgrounds, ages, and at all levels of education – and it’s unacceptable.

Re-blogging because (unfortunately) this is still a thing.

I remember the first time I heard about the wage gap. I think I was 15 or 16, and I was dumbfounded. We try so hard to brainwash our girls into thinking that they’re living in a world that is giving them all that it can give them, and they are taught that anything “feminist” is just “complaining”— all to shut us up. But I remember when I heard that statistic, and then actually researched it and confirmed it, I was filled with the most unquenchable rage that still has not been put out today. Don’t settle. Absolutely each and every one of us human beings deserves equal treatment.
